If you would've asked me two years ago who Wang Kar Wai was I would've told that I didn't know. Ask me now and I'll tell you that he is one of the greatest directors in Asian cinema (hell, one of the greatest out there period. You see I've really been getting into watching foreign films lately which includes flicks from Asia. From time to time I plan to do a blog about movies that I feel are excellent but due to the crummy state of hollywood aren't given any type of mass recognition. Though, that could be a good thing right?
The picture above is from the movie "Last Life in the Universe", it was directed by one of the best in Thai cinema, Pen-Ek Ratanaruang. I highly recommend you see this film. It may be a bit odd for those not familiar with Asian films and it you may not "get it" until the second or third viewing but when you do you'll fully appreciate how beautiful it is. I will say that it isn't my favorite asian movie (that title goes to "In the Mood for Love" by first director I mentioned, Wang Kar Wai) but it's still really good imo.
Just type in the title on youtube and you can view the entire movie ;)
